What is BAOI?

BAOI® (pronounced “bow-ee”) is inspired by the ancient Chinese phrase “抱一” (Bao Yi), meaning “embracing oneness” — the unity of body and mind.

More than two thousand years ago, the philosopher Laozi wrote in the Dao De Jing, “Can you carry your body and soul and embrace the One without separation?” In Chinese philosophy, this reflects one of the oldest understandings of life: the body and the mind are like yin and yang. They depend on each other and exist in dynamic balance. Only when they are held together as one can a person be whole, healthy, and strong. This state of “One” represents the natural order of the universe, the foundation of life, and the spiritual origin of BAOI®.
